SPOKANE, Wash. – Who were the Spokane Chiefs on the ice in game three against the Medicine Hat Tigers? They didn’t seem like themselves – at all.
Spokane and Medicine Hat are facing off in a gritty campaign for the WHL Championship title and the chance to compete for the Memorial Cup. The series was tied at one a piece before game three, which felt like it could’ve gone either team’s way before puck drop.
After a few solid Dawson Cowan saves, the chiefs defense couldn’t hold off a high-powered Tigers offense that was slowed down in game two. They scored six goals against the Chiefs – two in each period – and held Spokane scoreless.
The Chiefs haven’t had a zero on the scoreboard throughout their entire playoff run. In fact – the last time they were held without a goal was in October.
It was a silent night for the dynamic front line and tricky trio of Berkly Catton, Shea Van Olm and Andrew Cristall. Catton drops his streak of 14-consecutive games with at least one point.
The series picks up, Wednesday, for game four inside the Spokane Arena. Game five will be in Spokane and if needed, game six moves to Medicine Hat, Alberta.
This is the first time the WHL Championship has been played in Spokane since 2008. Check out the link to buy tickets for home games here.
