COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A Coeur d’Alene man will continue to serve his full sentence for sexually assaulting and committing video voyeurism against his female friend.
According to the Kootenai County Prosecutor’s Office, 20-year-old Dexter Ray Lumen Tondu was originally sentenced on June 18, 2024 for video voyeurism and sexual battery.
The prosecutor’s office said the charges stem from an incident on January 2, 2024. The female victim was staying the night at Tondu’s residence after deciding she was too tired to drive home.
The victim woke up the next morning to Tondu lifting up her shirt, grabbing and taking photos of her breasts and sexually assaulting her.
Tondu was originally sentenced to five years in prison with parole eligibility after four years for the video voyeurism charge and an additional year in jail for the sexual battery charge.
Tondu returned to court for a review hearing on May 1, eleven months after being sentenced. During the review, the Department of Corrections recommended that Tondu be placed on probation, but the prosecution recommended that Tondu stay in custody for the rest of his prison sentence.
District Judge John Cafferty ordered that Tondu remain in custody for the rest of his prison sentence. He will be eligible for parole after four years.
