STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — An armed individual has forced law enforcement to close a section of Highway 291 in Stevens County.
According to officials, the subject is barricaded with a weapon. Authorities have established a perimeter around the scene.
Washington State Patrol (WSP) and Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) implemented the closure between mileposts 29 and 30, near Corkscrew Canyon Road. The affected area is approximately three miles east of the Highway 231/Highway 291 interchange.
The road will remain closed until further notice. Drivers should seek alternative routes.
