SPOKANE, Wash. — A student hit by a vehicle Thursday morning was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Spokane Police Department.
SPD said the driver was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign.
It is not known whether the injured student has been released from the hospital.
There has been at least one other crash along 4th Avenue. In July of 2024, a 23-year-old woman was killed at the intersection of 4th and Lincoln while riding a scooter.
The city of Spokane said it wants to continue making intersections safer, especially for students.
“The school district knows their students, they know the routes they’re taking. So we work together with them to make sure that we’re paying attention to what they’re seeing and that we’re sharing that information,” said Kirstin Davis with the city.
