SPOKANE, Wash – After two big wins against the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Conference Championship series, two Spokane Chiefs are getting some extra recognition.
Forward Assanali Sarkenov had 4 goals in the first two games of the conference championship, bringing last week’s performance total to four goals and one assist for five points in three games. It was enough to lead all first year players and take home his first Rookie of the Week award this season.
Forward Andrew Cristall was named the WHL Player of the Week for his heroics throughout the post-season. In Sunday’s win he logged his second hattrick of the playoffs in the 6-5 overtime thriller against the Winterhawks. He totaled five goals and four assists for nine points in the last three games. Cristall has found the scoresheet in all 12 playoff games and leads the WHL in playoff goals.
Spokane leads the conference championship series 2-0 before heading to Portland for Game 3 on Wednesday.
