PULLMAN, Wash. — A Whitman County judge found 26-year-old George Melvin Harris III guilty of manslaughter for killing one person in a 2021 shooting on College Hill, according to Pullman Radio.
23-yera-old Liban Barre was killed and a WSU football player was injured in the shooting in September of 2021.
Court records from 2021 showed Harris turned himself into police and admitted to firing a gun. Harris said he was jumped and pulled out his gun in self defense.
Pullman Radio said the jury deliberated for 9 hours before finding Harris guilty of second-degree felony manslaughter. He now faces a sentence of around five years in prison.
