SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Chiefs took game one in the Western Conference Championship series against Portland in convincing fashion, outscoring the Winterhawks 10-4 inside the Spokane Arena, Friday night.
The action started early with a Spokane goal from Chiefs captain Berkly Catton just 38 seconds into the first period. It’s followed up by Sam Oremba who knocks in a shot two and a half minutes in. To conclude the first period, there were eight total goals while Spokane held an 5-3 lead on the Winterhawks with two periods to play.
Chase Harrington, Mathius Preston, Andrew Cristall, Shea Van Olm, Brody Gillespie, and Owen Martin each logged a goal in the first game of the series. Assanali Sarkenov had two on the night.
The Western Conference Championship is a seven game series. Game 2 will be played in the Spokane Arena on Sunday, April 27th at 5 p.m.
