MARLIN, Wash. – A 33-year-old Moses Lake man died in a vehicle crash early Thursday morning near Marlin.
Don “Chris” Terrell was driving a 1994 Mazda pickup north on Road W-Northeast at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at a stop sign at State Route 28 East, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office (GSCO).
GSCO said Terrell lost control of the vehicle, which rolled four times into the sagebrush on the west side of the road.
Officials confirmed Terrell, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. His body is now in the care of Coroner Craig Morrison, whose staff will conduct an autopsy.
A passenger, 39-year-old Tawni Jahns of Richland, was also not wearing a seatbelt and sustained injuries in the crash. She was transported by air ambulance to an out-of-area hospital.
The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. The Grant County Sheriff’s Motor Traffic Unit is investigating the incident.
This is a developing story.
