SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Monday on the West Plains area.
At approximately 2:00 p.m. on April 21, 2025, deputies responded to reports of a shooting near W. Geiger Boulevard and S. Hayford Road, just west of the Amazon Fulfillment Center.
According to deputies, the caller reported that a male had shot another male, with several individuals fleeing the scene on foot.
Upon arrival, deputies found the victim lying near the roadway without a pulse. Despite CPR attempts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the response, deputies observed an adult male running through a nearby field. The individual was detained for questioning but has not been arrested.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office has not released identities or potential motives.
Major Crime Detectives are processing the scene, and authorities ask the public to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
Madeleine Mullins spoke to a man whose daughter was driving in the area, when a man ran across the street asking for help.
The woman told her father that the man in the street had been shot, and later died in the road.
