MULLAN, Idaho — Skiers and snowboarders gathered at Lookout Pass to take advantage of a rare opportunity — lift tickets for just 90 cents. The special one-day promotion celebrated the mountain’s 90th ski season, drawing hundreds of enthusiasts to the slopes.
“I told people at the window today, ‘oh man I wish it was like this every day I feel like I’m back a hundred years’ you know?” one visitor joked about the throwback pricing.
The mountain reported that approximately 500 people had made their way to the hill just hours after opening. The promotion created a lively atmosphere with ideal conditions — a clear, sunny day with excellent snow conditions perfect for skiing and snowboarding.
Despite the warm weather, which had many visitors removing their heavy jackets, the slopes buzzed with activity. The sounds of boards and skis cutting through the snow filled the air as enthusiasts enjoyed the deeply discounted day passes.
“You can just feel the ski culture here. And then the 90-cent deal just solidifies it. Like we’re not here for money, man, we want you to ski, and I just love it man, it’s awesome,” the same excited visitor told 4 News Now.
In addition to the anniversary celebration, Lookout Pass offered another distinctive attraction — a 9-hole golf course on the back side of the mountain. This unusual combination of winter and spring sports provided visitors with a memorable experience, allowing them to ski and golf on the same day.
Golfers and non-golfers alike chipped their way through the course, many with beer in one hand and a club in the other, all while keeping their skis on — a unique way to welcome the weekend.
The 90-cent lift ticket promotion was a one-day-only event, but it showcased the mountain’s dedication to its community of skiers and snowboarders as it celebrates nine decades of operation.
For those who missed the celebration, regular operations continue at Lookout Pass as the spring skiing season progresses, offering visitors the chance to enjoy the remaining snow.
