SPOKANE, Wash. — Now that we are a few months into 2025, Spokane Police Department wants to remind you to make sure your car’s registration is up to date.
According to SPD’s Sgt. Teresa Fuller, having tags that are expired under 60 days can cost you a fine of $145. If they are expired past 60 days, the fine jumps to $237.
She said your car is also at risk of being towed if it is parked on a public street and has tabs expired over 45 days.
“One of the things I notice as a police officer, if I see expired tabs, I’ll run the plate and often, it’s just that the person hasn’t put their new tabs on. Really easy to forget, but that can be a fine as well,” she said.
