COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Coeur d’Alene police investigators are recommending charges against five members of a private security firm involved in a chaotic town hall by the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee.
In February, a clash between hecklers and security firm Lear Asset Management was caught on camera as Kootenai Sheriff Bob Norris directed security to remove the protestors.
You can watch a video of the incident here. WARNING graphic language.
The woman seen on the video being dragged and named as one of the victims in the charging request, Teresa Borrenpohl, is pursuing litigation.
Through their investigation, the Coeur d’Alene Police Department is now recommending charges of battery and false imprisonment against four members of Lear, including owner Paul Trouette.
According to the charging request, investigators determined a contract between Lear and KCRCC was never finalized which put Lear in violation of CDA municipal code for security at public events.
The charging request also states attorneys for Trouette told police Lear does not have any other employees outside of Trouette at this time.
Police also reached out to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office for any reports filed by Sheriff Norris on this incident, but none exist.
In the aftermath, the business license of Lear has been revoked in Coeur d’Alene. Lear is appealing.
