MOSES LAKE, Wash – The Moses Lake school board will vote Thursday night whether to take legal action against the company that built an elementary school that is experiencing ongoing electrical issues.
As 4 News Now reported last month, 400 students at Groff Elementary have been relocated to other schools for the rest of the school year.
The school has experienced electrical issues since it opened in 2021.
At the meeting Thursday night, the board will vote on resolution 2025-06, which would authorize legal action against Fowler Construction, Inc, the contractor involved in the project.
The resolution says the school district has identified “significant defects in the construction of Groff Elementary School, including but not limited to the school’s mechanical and electrical systems, roofing system and stairs.”
The district would seek to recoup damages “due to the defective and delayed construction of Groff Elementary.”
The school district has also scheduled a news conference for Friday morning.
