SPOKANE, Wash. — Prosecutors say the state could pursue first-degree murder charges against a man accused of shooting and killing a woman at her home in Spokane last summer.
41-year-old Travis Johnson appeared in Spokane County Court Friday for a second-degree murder charge.
Johnson is accused of shooting and killing a woman at her home on Hamilton Street in July.
In court, the prosecuting attorney said Johnson waited for others to leave the home before entering. Johnson then fired multiple shots into the woman’s body, including one that killed her.
The prosecutor said an autopsy of the woman’s body also showed what appeared to be stab wounds to her head.
Johnson was arrested in Kootenai County over the summer on unrelated charges.
On Friday, Spokane County Superior Court Commissioner Jerry Scharosch set Johnson’s bond at $1 million.
His next scheduled court appearance is April 8.
