AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — A new program will help support victims of violent crimes in the West Plains.
Airway Heights Police Department recently received a grant from the Washington Attorney General’s Office late last year, and officials used it to create West Plains Victim Services.
The team will work with AHPD, Cheney Police Department and Eastern Washington University Police.
Officials are working to launch the program and recently hired two victim advocates, Kassie DeMarco and Pam DePriest.
AHPD said those most in need in our community are survivors of domestic violence.
“We’ll be able to help with several different things from general services like support, some possible financial stuff or some legal advocacy to referrals for therapy and criminal justice,” said AHPD’s Pam DePriest.
DePriest said the program hopes to begin helping victims within the next month.
