PRIEST RIVER, Idaho — Priest River Lamanna High School math teacher Nicole Anderson was named a finalist for the 2025 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST).
Anderson was one of two other teachers in Idaho named as finalists for math.
Vicki Baker, a teacher at Timberline High School in the Boise School District, and Shelley Nash, a teacher at Independence Alternative High School in the Blackfoot School District were the other math area finalists.
Rylee DeVito, of Riverglen Jr. High in the Boise School District, Tanya Elmer, of Borah High in the Boise School District, and Amanda Harris, of Middleton Middle School in the Middleton School District were finalists in the area of science.
The PAEMST awards are considered by many in the educational field as the top honor from the U.S. government to receive in the areas of K-12 science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Nominees who receive the national award are recognized by the White House with a paid trip to Washington, D.C., a certificate signed by the president and a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation.
Awardees are expected to be announced this summer.
