AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — Cheney Public Schools has selected a firm to lead the design and building of a new elementary school in Airway Heights.
Garco Construction/Integrus Architecture will be leading the project for the new Craig Road Elementary School.
The school will hold 500 kindergarten through 5th grade students once it’s complete.
In the November election, a $72 million bond for the district passed with over 62% voter approval. A majority of that bond money will go toward building the new school.
The firm selection process began in January followed by an in-depth selection process.
Following a February meeting where the selection committee scored the remaining firms on how well they would be able to meet the needs of the district, Garco Construction/Integrus Architecture came out on top.
Design work for the new elementary school will begin in April. Construction is expected to start in March of 2026.
