AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — A 30-year-old woman was arrested late Wednesday night after police said she beat, strangled and slashed her 14-year-old daughter during an argument.
According to an affidavit filed with Spokane County Superior Court, Tre’ann Andrew had been drinking Wednesday when she and her daughter got into an argument about false eyelashes.
The teen’s grandmother left the apartment to go buy the eyelashes that were requested. While she was gone, things escalated at home, according to court documents.
Police said the teen told her mom to stop drinking so much, and was on her phone in her room when Andrew attacked.
Investigators said Andrew threw a glass bowl at the teen, hitting her in the head.
She then began to hit and kick her daughter until she fell to the ground, then wrapped both hands around the teen’s next and squeezed hard, to the point that the girl lost consciousness.
The grandmother returned to the apartment to find Andrew choking the teen, and worked to separate the two.
At that point, investigators said Andrew grabbed a knife out of the kitchen dishwasher and began to chase the teen with it.
A nurse at a hospital later confirmed to police that part of the girl’s ear had been slashed.
The teen told police people were telling her not to report the attack to police, as Andrew had a case pending over an allegation that she stabbed her ex-boyfriend in Grays Harbor. He is believed to have recovered.
Investigators said Andrew also told her to take a shower, and that she would bury her bloodied clothes somewhere, telling the teen,
“Do you think I’m stupid, [redacted]? I’ve been through this like how many times already? I ain’t stupid.”
The teen was eventually able to escape the apartment and run to the next door neighbor for help. That neighbor saw the girl with blood all over her clothes and face, and called police.
According to the affidavit, investigators found blood spatters and smears in every room of that apartment, as well as clumps of the teen’s hair.
They also found bed sheets, towels and a bath mat in the washing machine, all of which had blood on them.
The teen was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and ended up with stitches on her face, among other injuries like bald spots, bumps, bruising and swelling.
Andrew was arrested and charged with 2nd-degree murder, 1st-degree assault, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence and tampering with evidence.
During her first appearance Thursday afternoon, Commissioner Anthony Rugel set her bond at $500,000. Andrew’s arraignment was set for April 1, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.
