COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — If you want to impress your friends with your tree knowledge on your next hike, check out the upcoming class from UI Extension Forestry.
On April 26, The UI Extension Forestry, an educational program through the University of Idaho, will host an ‘Identifying Idaho’s Trees’ class.
The class will use images and live samples to help participants quickly identify Idaho’s most common native trees, such as ponderosa pine, western larch, Douglas fir black cottonwood and more.
“Because we have such a varied range of geography, soils and precipitation patterns, Idaho has a wider variety of native trees than most other Rocky Mountain states. The first step in caring for these trees, whether they be in a landscape or in a forest, is correct species identification,” reads the class description.
The class will take place from 11 a.m. -2 p.m. at the Idaho Department of Fish & Game, 2885 West Kathleen Avenue.
registration is required and costs $10.
