SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — A man was arrested for manufacturing drugs near two schools in Spokane County this month.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, detectives served a search warrant to 34-year-old Zachary S. Kennedy’s residence on North Perry Street on March 5. At the time, detectives found evidence that Kennedy was running a psilocybin mushroom growing operation as well as a DMT extraction lab.
DMT is a hallucinogenic that is either smoked or consumed orally like Ayahuasca.
Detectives found large amounts of mushrooms, DMT, multiple gallons of toxic waste and guns.
The Department of Ecology helped get rid of the hazardous waste materials, which were used to manufacture DMT. The materials were highly flammable and explosive, creating an “imminent danger” to anyone near the lab.
Kennedy was arrested on March 5 and booked into jail for possessing, delivering and manufacturing a controlled substance.
Kennedy appeared for his first hearing in Spokane County Court on March 6. At the time, Kennedy was released.
SCSO said detectives charged Kennedy with six new felonies on March 17. He was arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail for new charges of possessing, delivering and manufacturing a controlled substance, hazardous waste violations and unlawful use of a building for drug purposes.
