MEAD, Wash. — Mead High School Principal Dr. Kimberly Jensen has resigned, the district announced Tuesday.
According to district Superintendent Travis Hanson, Jensen is leaving to look for new career opportunities, and her resignation will be effective June 30.
This resignation comes as Mead High School has been embroiled in a hazing scandal that led to the firing of head football coach Keith Stamps and multiple lawsuits.
Dr. Jensen’s replacement has been announced as the person currently operating as MHS athletic director, Troy Hughes. Hughes will begin his new role July 1.
Hughes was not the athletic director at Mead at the time of the hazing incident.
Jensen is among the people named in a lawsuit filed by the family of a former Mead football player who reported an assault at a training camp. The lawsuit alleges the school and district did not do enough to protect the student.
