LAS VEGAS, NV. – The Gonzaga Bulldogs are hoping the third time will be the charm.
After winning in the semi-final game against San Francisco, 85-76, the Zags will play Saint Mary’s for the third time this season and are hoping to get their first win against the Gaels this year.
This championship matchup doesn’t come as a surprise. Gonzaga or Saint Mary’s has won the conference title every year since 2009; that streak will continue for another year.
The Zags kept it close in their game against the Dons, Monday night. San Francisco went into halftime with the lead and Gonzaga’s most comfortable lead was 11 points in the final four minutes of the game.
Zags’ Graham Ike was the star of the show with a double-double, tallying 27 points and 10 rebounds. Khalif Battle added 21 points. Ryan Nembhard dished out eight assists.
The WCC championship game is Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Orleans Arena.
