PULLMAN, Wash. – Months of training for Washington State and Eastern Washington players came to light at Pro Day in Pullman, Friday.
WSU and EWU players worked out in front of 27 NFL scouts beginning in the Cougar Football Complex weight room before heading to the Taylor Sports Complex for drills like broad jump, shuttle and 40-yard dash.
The top draft prospect for Washington State is Kyle Williams. The wide receiver elected to not participate in Pro Day, likely due to his confidence in his performance at the NFL Scouting Combine just a few days ago. Williams ran a 4.40 40-yard dash in Indianapolis. He is projected to be a second or third round pick.
Offensive lineman Esa Pole is another WSU standout. He was not invited to the combine but showed growth at the East-West Shrine Bowl and says he gave everything he had for Pro Day.
“The biggest thing is that it’s a relief I got that out of the way. I gave it everything I got. A lot of people said they like what they saw and hopefully that comes with some action, but I had to show out for the Cougs,” said Pole.
Other players working out for the Cougs included: Cooper Mathers, Tanner Moku, Nusi Malani, Dean Janikowski and Andrew Edson. Moku had the best vertical jump listed at 39 1/2 inches.
Eastern Washington wide receiver, who will likely go down as one of the best to ever wear the Eagles logo, got the chance to show off in front of the scouts. In addition to putting up a nice performance on the field, Efton Chism III said it’s also about personal qualities you can sell to an NFL team.
“Going through the whole transfer portal, NIL, and for me to stay, I hope that has an impression on these guys and they see the loyalty I can have,” Chism said.
Other Cougs that worked out at Pro Day included: Wyatt Hanson, Matthew Brown, Darrien Sampson, Conner O’Farrell, Jacob Newsom and Adam Cohen.
The NFL Draft begins on April 24th.
