MOSES LAKE, Wash. — The person who helped the Moses Lake School District navigate a financial disaster is resigning.
The Moses Lake School District announced Executive Director of Business & Operations, Mitchell Thompson, is stepping down from his role.
The district says Thompson was brought on in June 2024 to help stabilize and improve the district following financial errors that put it in a $20 million deficit.
The district was able to get a $53 million levy passed in February which helped it avoid cutting sports and extracurriculars.
“Mitch has been an asset to MLSD during a time of significant financial transition. His expertise helped reinforce our financial integrity and ensure a more sustainable future for our school district,” said Superintendent Carol Lewis. “We extend our appreciation for his contributions and wish him the very best in his next endeavors.”
