SANDPOINT, Idaho — A Sandpoint High School student found to have two guns in their vehicle has been suspended.
According to the Lake Pend Oreille School District, another student learned of the guns and reported them to a school resource officer Tuesday morning.
The student involved was detained while campus security confiscated the two weapons and turned them over to the Sandpoint Police Department.
Campus security and administrators believe there was no safety risk to staff or students nor malicious intent by the student involved.
The student was suspended as the district follows protocols according to the law. An ongoing investigation will determine if any further disciplinary action or criminal charges will occur.
