SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Deputies arrested a man and a woman after a brief car chase last week, according to Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
On February 26 around 8 a.m., a Spokane Valley Police Department deputy responded to a suspicious car near Trent Avenue and Francher Road.
When he arrived at the scene, the deputy found a man and a woman who were “slumped over” in a car.
The deputy also saw what appeared to be multiple drugs and drug paraphernalia in the car.
While waiting for backup to arrive, the man in the driver’s seat of the car, 32-year-old David L. Willems, and the woman in the passenger’s seat, 31-year-old Rowan N. Olson, appeared to wake up and move.
Willems started the car and hit the deputy’s patrol car as he drove away.
The deputy followed, but stopped the chase because of Willem’s reckless driving.
Later, deputies found a loaded pistol along the escape route they believed was thrown from the car during the chase.
On February 27, Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police told Spokane County deputies they were chasing the same suspicious car from the day before.
CDA Tribal Police stopped the car near Hoxie Road and Harvard Road in Spokane County.
Willems and Olson were arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail for various charges including attempting to elude police and previous misdemeanors.
