KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho — Commutes through north Idaho will get a little longer starting Monday.
On March 3, Idaho Transportation Department will close the westbound exit to Highway 41, the main route to access Rathdrum.
The Highway 41 eastbound I-90 on-ramp will also be closed overnight for the next few weeks.
The construction is the latest in a multi-year road project that has been ongoing since 2022. It is expected to be completed in 2026.
“Definitely, as with everything, anytime there’s a change, it’s going to take a little time for people to adjust to those changes, so just using caution, slowing down and being patient with other drivers is really appreciated,” said ITD’s Heather McDaniel.
To get onto Highway 41 from westbound I-90, ITD will send drivers further west on I-90 to the Seltice Way exit, just past the car dealership.
McDaniel said much of the road work will reconstruct the on-ramp.
The I-90 construction is set to last through the fall.
