MOSES LAKE, Wash. — The six-member Knowledge Bowl team from Moses Lake High School won the Regional Championship this month, advancing to the State competition in March.
The Washington Knowledge Bowl, sponsored by the Northeast Washington Educational Service District 101 (NCESD) and the Washington Association of School Principals, is an academic contest that challenges student teams to answer questions about any and all areas of learning.
Each team is comprised of four members and two alternates. At Moses Lake High School, that team is represented by Javier Gonzalez, Kameron Martinez, Amiya Saha, Bisente DeLeon, Lawrence Minor and Ella Noble, led by head coach, Jacob Shank.
On February 24, 2025, this team scored 82 points across four rounds in areas including history, math, science, literature and current events at East Valley High School in Spokane Valley.
“Our very own MLHS Knowledge Bowl team competes with other high schools in a Jeopardy show type of competition. Our students need to be well versed in all subject areas, able to work as a team, sharing their knowledge and to be fast with their hand on the buzzer,” said MLHS principal Sheila Kries.
The Moses Lake Team will compete in the State competition on March 22, 2025 at Wenatchee High School.
The news room team at KXLY congratulates these students and their coach for their hard work and dedication to learning, and we wish them the best of luck in the State competition. Go Mavs!
