MEAD, Wash. – “The expectations probably outside of our gym were probably a little bit low.”
Mt. Spokane head coach David Wagenblast was challenged with coaching a team that lost nine seniors from the previous season. The Wildcats placed third in state for the 2023-24 campaign and although the program lost some talent, the players say it was easy to build off a good foundation.
“The culture was just kind of laid out by the players that came before us. Every guy said we have to give 100% effort… it just builds,” said senior Colt Kenison.
The Wildcats earned a two seed after winning the District 6 3A playoffs; a significant jump from last year’s six seed.
(2) Mt. Spokane faces (7) Seattle Prep in a game played at West Valley High School, Saturday at 2 p.m.
“Whoever plays better, whoever is more focused, whoever can execute – that’s the team that’s going to win,” said Kenison.
