SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Deputies arrested a man who stole a luxury car in Spokane Valley on Wednesday.
On February 25 around 9:30 p.m., Spokane County deputies spotted a previously reported stolen Lexus driving south on Argonne Road.
Wanting to avoid a high speed chase, SCSO called for backup from Spokane Valley Police Department.
Deputies set out spike strips near Hutchinson Road and Frederick Avenue ahead of the oncoming car.
SVPD said the driver, 39-year-old Jared Crewdson, noticed the spike strips and attempted to avoid them, swerving and accelerating.
Despite his efforts, Crewdson drove over the strips and the tires deflated. When he tried to drive away, the car began smoking.
Eventually, deputies arrested him and searched the car.
SVPD said they found two guns, over $1,000 in cash, methamphetamine, fentanyl and scales in the car.
Crewdson told deputies he bought the car, but didn’t receive any paperwork and that the guns didn’t belong to him.
He was booked into Spokane County Jail for multiple charges including evading police, unlawful possession of a firearm, driving with a suspended license and drug possession.
His bond was set at $150,000.
