UPDATE – 12:00 p.m. on February 23
SR-231 is back open. WSDOT crews were able to reinforce the shoulder.
ORIGINAL STORY:
SR-231 is closed between I-90 and US-2 on Sunday morning, according to WSDOT East.
WSDOT said there are many areas across eastern Washington and along 231 that are covered by water and mud, due to rain and snowmelt over the weekend.
Officials said drivers should exercise caution along the route and should not try to cross the road in areas that are flooded by impassable water and mud.
As of 11:30 a.m., the closures are still in place.
This is a developing story.
