SPOKANE, Wash. – For the first time since 1990, the Saint Mary’s Gaels beat Gonzaga back-to-back-to-back meetings.
The wheels fell off of the late WCC regular-season title race with a 74-67 loss, giving the Gaels another conference championship after last year’s win. This is the first time also since 1990 that Gonzaga has gone consecutive years without at least a share of a WCC regular-season chip.
Graham Ike led the team with 19 points and five rebounds, Nolan Hickman added 14 more.
Saint Mary’s outrebounded Gonzaga 38-26 and outscored them in second-chance points 21-14.
The Zags never led despite only committing seven turnovers.
Gonzaga honored seniors Michael Ajayi, Khalif Battle, Joe Few, Ben Gregg, Nolan Hickman and Ryan Nembhard pregame.
The Zags now hit the road to face the Santa Clara Broncos this Thursday at 8:00 p.m.
