SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A man was killed while trying to help another driver on I-90 Friday afternoon.
According to Washington State Patrol (WSP) the first vehicle was traveling west when it hit a barrier, forcing the driver to stop and assess the damage.
A second vehicle, traveling behind, also pulled over to assist.
Both drivers were standing between the two cars when a third vehicle crashed into the second vehicle.
WSP said the impact of the crash sent the second vehicle into its own driver, throwing him into oncoming eastbound traffic.
Emergency responders administered CPR to the victim and was transported to Sacred Heart where he later died of his injuries.
The driver of third vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital, where authorities are conducting tests to determine if impairment played a role in the crash.
Blood samples were taken as part of the investigation.
The driver of the first vehicle was uninjured.

Westbound traffic on I-90 is closed due to a crash involving multiple vehicles.
According to Washington State Department of Transportation, drivers travelling westbound are required to detour onto Evergreen in order to avoid the accident.

A multiple car crash on I-90 eastbound near Evergreen Road overpass is blocking traffic.
According to Washington State Patrol, the left two lanes eastbound on I-90 and the three left lanes westbound.
WSP said one driver was ejected into the roadway.
No updates on the injuries of the driver.
