SPOKANE, Wash. — A police officer shot a person in Spokane’s East Central neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, according to Spokane Police Department.
Around 12:30 p.m. on February 9, SPD responded to the Hart Terrace Apartments near 11th Avenue and Ray Street for a crime check on reported “suspicious activity.”
When they arrived, officers ran the license plate number of a “suspicious” car and linked it to a person with an outstanding warrant.
Officers approached the person with the warrant and an “altercation escalated.”
According to SPD, during the interaction, an officer shot a person in the apartment complex’s parking lot. The person was then taken to the hospital for surgery.
As of 2 p.m., all previously closed roads have reopened.
