SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane man was sentenced to over a decade in federal prison for distributing child sex abuse material.
32-year-old Peter Timm of Spokane will serve 15 years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release and $48,000 in restitution to the victims.
According to the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, reports came in about Timm uploading child sex abuse material online in February of 2023.
Investigators searched Timm’s home in Spokane Valley and found more than 13,000 files of child sex abuse material, including more than a thousand videos on electronic devices. The photos and videos showed minors younger than 12.
Investigators also found chats between Timm and other people online who discussed and exchanged child sex abuse material. Timm mentioned in these chats that he had sexually abused children before and wanted to abuse more children in the future.
“Today’s sentencing sends a clear message that those who engage in the distribution of child sexual abuse material will be held fully accountable for their actions,” said Acting Special Agent in Charge Matthew Murphy, who oversees HSI operations in the Pacific Northwest. “Protecting children is our top priority, and we are unwavering in our commitment to bringing those who exploit and harm them to justice. This case reinforces that there is no place in our society for those who contribute to the abuse and exploitation of children, and we will continue to pursue justice with relentless determination.”
