SPOKANE, Wash. — Mark your calendars for Spokane’s 2025 Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday!
On February 8, the Spokane Chinese Association will host a Lunar New Year celebration at the Fox Theater on Sprague Avenue.
Lunar New Year is celebrated throughout many Asian countries and communities and marks the beginning of the year and upcoming springtime, according to the Lunar Calendar.
In Chinese astrology, 2025 is the ‘Year of the Snake.’ Traditionally, in Chinese culture and mythology, snakes are associated with themes such as harvest, birth, good fortune, as well as cunning and threat.
This Saturday’s event will begin with a culture fair at 1 p.m., followed by live performances at 4 p.m.
The free-admission fair will include family-friendly activities like Chinese calligraphy, food samplings, photo booths and various cultural exhibits.
The live shows will feature traditional Chinese dancing, choirs, martial arts and a traditional dragon dance.
Tickets for the performances are on sale now and cost between $15-$26. All ticket holders will automatically be entered into a contest for a chance to win $1,000.
