SPOKANE, Wash. – Party like it’s 1932.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs at long last beat the Oregon State Beavers in a 98-60 beatdown where the Beavs never led.
OSU falls to 26-3 all-time against GU, tonight their first-ever appearance in The Kennel and first trip to Spokane since 1990.
Gonzaga forwards Khalif Battle and Graham Ike showcased incredibly efficient performances: Battle shooting 4-5 from the field and swishing 12 free throws (on 13 attempts) to score 23 and Ike scoring almost all of the Zags’ first 17 points to end the day with a 22-point, seven-rebound evening.
The Bulldogs shot 55% from the field, 52.9% from three and 85.2% from the free throw line, one of their best overall shooting nights of the season and the ninth time they’ve topped 90 points.
Gonzaga now has sole possession of second in the WCC, a game and a half behind Saint Mary’s, and that’s where the Zags go next in a game in Moraga this Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
