According to SPD, officers responded to the home around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday and transported Gavin to the hospital. Despite efforts to save his life, he died about an hour later.
Burkey, who is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs about 210 pounds, and has green eyes, is wanted for second-degree murder, drive-by shooting, and second-degree assault.
According to court documents, Burkey pleaded guilty to criminal mischief instead of going to trial for punching a man at the Hillyard Skate Park. The victim suffered a concussion.
Court documents also list that Burkey’s last address was 1303 East Sanson, the same location of the SWAT standoff Tuesday evening.
Authorities said the shooting does not appear to have been a random act.
Probable cause has been established to arrest Burkey in connection with the crime.
