SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane County Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death for a 13-year-old shot and killed over the weekend.
According to the Medical Examiner, Gavin Looper died by homicide from a gunshot wound to the head.
Looper was shot early Saturday morning while playing video games at a home in Spokane’s Hillyard neighborhood.

Looper’s family says a drive-by shooting happened around 2:40 a.m. and Looper was shot from the backdoor.
