PULLMAN, Wash. – A Quad 1 win was at the Cougs’ fingertips.
St. Mary’s is in the top 25 of the NET rankings and a win would have helped boost Washington State’s NCAA tournament resume, significantly.
WSU led for 30 of the 40 minutes, Saturday, but couldn’t close it out against the Gaels in the final seconds in Beasley Coliseum. St. Mary’s remains undefeated in WCC play after the final score of 80-75.
Ethan Price led the Cougs in scoring with 20 points; 16 of those coming in the second half. Nate Calmese and Dane Erikstrup both added 16 points a piece.
With this loss, the Cougars fall to 15-7 this season, and 8-2 in home games.
Up next, WSU travels to California to take on Pacific this Thursday at 7 p.m.
