SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — This weekend, readers can stock their personal libraries without spending a dime.
Page 42 Bookstore is hosting its annual Free Book Fair, offering hundreds of books for attendees to browse and take home. The bookstore, known for its diverse selection of used books, hopes the event inspires readers of all ages.
Emily Peterson, owner of Page 42 Bookstore, aims to make reading accessible to everyone, particularly children who may have drifted away from the habit.
“Everybody deserves access to good reads,” Peterson said. “The way to do that is to make sure they have a selection to choose from so that everyone can find something they like, connect with, and grow from.”
The Free Book Fair runs from Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Mayhem Soap Supply, located at 6401 East Sprague in Spokane Valley. The soap shop, which specializes in handmade soaps and DIY soap-making classes, will host the event in its space.
The fair is intended for readers, not resellers. While there’s no strict limit, organizers suggest attendees take about 20 books per person. Guests are encouraged to bring their own bags or boxes for easy transport.
Parking is available around the building and across the street at the empty furniture store.
