SPOKANE, Wash. — Hundreds of people gathered in Spokane’s Riverfront Park Saturday morning to show support for several causes at a People’s March.
Speakers at the event spoke about women’s reproductive rights, LGBTQIA+ rights and the importance of unity amongst all people.
“I am here because the women before me made it possible for me to be here, and I want to make it possible for the women after me to be here,” said participant Callie Allen.
The rally was one of many across the country taking place just days before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Some of the speakers included NAACP president Lisa Gardner, city councilmember Paul Dillon and YWCA CEO Jeanette Hauck.
“We can come together and stand together to empower everyone,” said Allen. “Whatever spectrum you fall on, gender identity, black, white, pink or blue, we’re here for everybody.”
