SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Conservation District (SCD) has kicked off its Annual Tree Sale, offering over 100,000 native tree and shrub seedlings for conservation purposes, such as reforestation, wildlife habitat, and stream enhancement.
This year, SCD expanded its inventory, anticipating a 20% increase in sales after distributing over 95,000 seedlings to more than 1,200 customers last year.
“Our tree sale is one of the highlights of the year,” said Ben Peterson, SCD Forester. “Knowing that more than 100,000 trees and shrubs will be planted in our community to benefit wildlife, protect soil, and enhance our landscapes is incredibly rewarding. We’re prepared to make this year’s event even bigger and better.”
Peterson has been a part of SCD’s tree sale for 23 years.
“We try to pick species that will provide some sort of an environmental benefit to the community,” he said.
The sale includes more than 40 species, such as Royalty Purple Raspberries and Japanese Tree Lilac, with most seedlings sold bare root for $15 per bundle of five.
Discounts of up to 73% are available for large orders.
Pre-orders are now open through March 7th, with pickup scheduled for April 11th and 12th. A surplus sale will also be held for remaining inventory.
To place an order, visit SpokaneCD.org or call 509-535-7274.
Pickup will be held at the Spokane Conservation District office, located at 4422 E. 8th Ave., Spokane Valley, WA 99212.
