SPOKANE, Wash. — Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing tonight and into Saturday morning, patchy black ice could form on area roads, according to National Weather Service Spokane.
NWS Spokane said drivers are urged to exercise caution, reduce their speeds, and remain alert for slick travel conditions, particularly on untreated surfaces.
The combination of freezing temperatures and moisture from earlier precipitation creates the potential for black ice to develop, making roads especially hazardous.
Motorists should be mindful of these conditions, which can be difficult to spot, as black ice blends in with the pavement.
NWS Spokane has advised drivers to increase following distances and to be prepared for sudden changes in road conditions.
Slower speeds and extra attention are recommended to navigate safely during this period of freezing temperatures.
