COEUR D’ALENE – One of two Macy’s stores left in the Inland Northwest is closing, along with 65 others nationwide.
The store in the Silver Lake Mall is on the chopping block, according to a closure list published Thursday.
While several stores in western Washington will close, the Macy’s in Spokane Valley Mall will stay open.
The closures are the latest wave of stores being shuttered, with Macy’s planning to close 150 stores by 2026. Store closures nationwide began last year.
The company calls it the “Bold New Chapter” strategy, where it will close 150 underperforming stores and focus on 350 “go-forward” locations.
Macy’s did not say when the stores will officially close.
The Spokane Valley Mall will be the last Macy’s in the Inland Northwest.
Macy’s in downtown Spokane closed in 2016. The NorthTown Mall location closed in 2021.
