SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — One person was arrested for causing a crash that hospitalized a teenager on North Argonne Road near Doak Road Sunday evening.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, calls came in around 4:35 p.m. on Sunday about a head-on crash near Argonne and Doak.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, 56-year-old Raymond G. Jones was driving north on Argonne, swerving in and out of traffic right before the crash. Minutes later, Jones swerved over the center line and crashed his truck head-on with an SUV traveling the south near the Argonne and Doak intersection.
A 17-year-old passenger in the SUV suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The driver and another passenger in the SUV were not injured.
SCSO said Jones admitted to driving home after drinking a shot of whiskey and several beers. The deputy said Jones smelled like alcohol and his eyes were red and watery.
Jones was arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail for vehicular assault.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
