PULLMAN, Wash. – After a 2-0 start to WCC play over the bottom half of the league, WSU (13-3) men’s basketball needed a statement win over San Francisco (13-4) to keep up at the top.
Despite USF’s Malik Thomas dropping 27 first-half points, the Cougars weathered the storm, and beat the Dons 91-82 to stay unbeaten in conference play.
LeJuan Watts dropped 24 points and 12 rebounds in one of the best games in his career for WSU, and Ethan Price was close behind with 20 points of his own.
Dane Erikstrup was electric behind the line, shooting 5-11 from three to score 18 points.
Wazzu went on a 23-1 run in the second half, putting away the Dons to end their perfect WCC streak and push them back to 3-1 in conference.
WSU next hosts Pacific, losers of nine-straight games, this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. back in Beasley Coliseum.
