WASHINGTON, DC – It was a family affair on the floor of the U.S. Capitol Friday, as the newest congressman from Washington’s 5th District was sworn in.
Rep. Michael Baumgartner fills the seat held for 20 years by Cathy McMorris Rodgers.
Baumgartner posted pictures on Twitter/X of his children joining him for Friday’s swearing in.
One photo shows the five Baumgartner kids alongside their dad as he waits for the swearing in. You can see them gathered around a screen, which Baumgartner said the kids “even found time to watch a little Bluey during the Speaker debate.”
Baumgartner previously served in the Washington legislature and as the Spokane County treasurer.
McMorris Rodgers chose not to run for re-election after six terms in Congress.
