PULLMAN, Wash – Just two days after declaring he would test the waters of the transfer portal, WSU quarterback Zevi Eckhaus says he’s staying on the Palouse.
Eckhaus, who surprised and delighted Cougar fans during his first start at last week’s Holiday Bowl, initially said he wants to “explore any opportunities that may present themselves.”
Wednesday, he quoted a report that said he was instead staying at WSU by saying “All for the Crimson and Gray!”
Eckhaus was a graduate transfer, but because he played in fewer than four games this year, can use this as a red shirt year and have one more year of eligibility.
A transfer from Bryant University, Eckart played in just two games for the Cougars this year.
He threw seven passes for 61 yards and a touchdown in a 70-30 rout of Portland State in August.
Then, Eckhaus started in the Holiday Bowl in place of John Mateer who has committed to Oklahoma.
In the Holiday Bowl, Eckhaus threw for three touchdowns and ran for another.
