MOSES LAKE, Wash. — A suspected DUI driver was arrested Friday for driving around a Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputy and tapping a patrol car with his vehicle.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Abel Valdez of Moses Lake was driving slowly with hazards lights on in the Larson Community around 11:15 p.m. Friday. GCSO said smoke was coming from the front end of Valdez’s car and it was running on two flat tires.
The car stopped at one point but took off again when the Sheriff’s Office deputy approached.
GCSO said Valdez was never going more than 20 miles per hour.
Valdez eventually tried to go around the patrol car. GCSO said Valdez tapped the patrol vehicle while trying to pass by. Valdez then got out of his car and ran from the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office deputy tased and then arrested Valdez.
Valdez was booked into Grant County Jail on suspicion of felony eluding, harassment, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.
GCSO said the patrol vehicle had minimal damage.
